Tubes for Mesa/Boogie Mark IIC+

Era: 1983–1985Power: 60 W or 100 W

The Mark IIC+ defined high-gain American lead tone — Metallica recorded "Master of Puppets" through it. Five cascaded 12AX7 gain stages, simul-class operation switchable between Class A (60 W) and Class A/B (100 W). The five-stage cascade is brutally sensitive to V1 tube choice.

Important: bias before you swap

Power tube swaps almost always require rebiasing — running a new quartet of 6L6GC cold or hot will shorten tube life dramatically and can damage the output transformer. See the biasing guide and the troubleshooting guide before rolling tubes.
