Tubes for Hiwatt DR103 (Custom 100)

Era: 1968–presentPower: 100 W

Pete Townshend's amp — military-grade construction, partridge transformers, ruler-flat clean tone with massive headroom. The DR103 doesn't break up until volume 8, which is why it sounds clean on Quadrophenia at apparent stadium volumes.

Important: bias before you swap

Power tube swaps almost always require rebiasing — running a new quartet of EL34 cold or hot will shorten tube life dramatically and can damage the output transformer. See the biasing guide and the troubleshooting guide before rolling tubes.
